ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 to Be Hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia

 The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 is officially heading to Africa, with South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia set to co-host the prestigious tournament. It will mark the first time in 24 years that cricket's biggest 50-over event returns to the African continent and the first-ever Men's Cricket World Cup matches to be played in Namibia.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the tournament's official branding and confirmed the host cities during a launch event in Johannesburg, officially beginning the countdown to one of the most anticipated sporting events of 2027.

Africa Welcomes the Cricket World Again

Scheduled for October and November 2027, the tournament will feature 14 of the world's top ODI teams competing across 12 venues spread over the three host nations.

South Africa will host the majority of the matches at eight iconic stadiums, while Zimbabwe will stage games at three venues. Namibia will make history by hosting Cricket World Cup matches for the very first time at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

The tournament's official slogan, "Make the Circle Bigger," reflects the African philosophy of Ubuntu, promoting unity, community, and inclusion while celebrating the region's rich cultural heritage.

Namibia will host its first-ever World Cup fixtures at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, making it a historic occasion for cricket in the country.

A New Tournament Format

The 2027 Cricket World Cup will introduce a refreshed competition format featuring 57 matches.

The tournament begins with a preliminary qualification stage involving the teams ranked 12th to 14th. The winner will secure the final place in the main competition.

The remaining teams will then be divided into two groups of six, with the strongest sides progressing to the Super Seven stage before the tournament concludes with the semi-finals and the grand final.
