Carlos Alcaraz Explains His Unique Training and Comeback Strategy for US Open 2026

Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz has officially declared himself ready for the 2026 US Open, capping off an extraordinary recovery journey following a four-month injury layoff.

Taking to social media to reflect on his road back to the court, the World No. 2 revealed the unconventional, step-by-step training strategy that helped rebuild his wrist strength and stroke confidence.

From Stringless Racquets to Full Power

Rehabilitating a delicate right wrist injury required extreme patience and unique training methods. Alcaraz shared a striking detail about his early July progression:

"On July 9th we were smashing with a racquet WITHOUT STRINGS and next week we arrive in NEW YORK with motivation through the roof… Special mention to THE ENTIRE TEAM that has made this possible. FOREVER CARLOS."

Hitting balls with a stringless frame allowed his team to carefully monitor frame speed, impact vibrations, and wrist biomechanics without subjecting his joint to the heavy shock of full string tension. As the weeks progressed, his team gradually increased the resistance, moving from light rehab work to high-intensity practice sets.

The Team Behind the Recovery

Alcaraz emphasized that his upcoming title defense at Flushing Meadows wouldn't be possible without his dedicated support staff. Guided by his coaching and medical team, every stage of his recovery was calculated to ensure he wouldn't rush back too soon—even choosing to skip warm-up events like Cincinnati to arrive in New York at 100% health.

Entering the 2026 US Open as the defending champion, Alcaraz arrives in New York refreshed, healthy, and with "motivation through the roof" as he prepares to battle for his seventh Grand Slam crown.
